Music has always been one of the most important and influential things in my life. Some of my earliest memories include singing along with the movie "Yellow Submarine," the Kiss poster on my bedroom wall, and doing my best Elvis impersonation with a toy guitar for my grandparents. As I reached high school I told my parents what they wanted to hear when it came to my education and future while I wrote my first songs and planned out how I was going to be a rock star.
Over the years I've played in many bands and performed many different types of music at many different types of places. Some of the best times of my life were playing bass in bands like Meld, Flatiron, and helliphino. Later I transitioned to the roll of front man with Gift of Destiny, a band that still hasn't technically broken up. But there was one thing I always wanted to do as a musician. A completely solo project.
I always wanted to do an album all on my own like Trent Reznor when he wrote and recorded "Pretty Hate Machine." An album where I wrote and played everything without input from anyone. Complete musical immersion into my own psyche. I am far from being a virtuoso or musical prodigy however. My knowledge of instruments is fairly basic I'll admit and couple that with the fact that I lack the dexterity in my hands that I once had due to a motorcycle accident in 2018.
Hollywood legend has it that Johnny Cash and his original band found their sound because they "couldn't play no better." Well I believe that I have accomplished the same feat. Technology has also made it easy to do things as well. I once shunned electronic assistance in music but have come to embrace it for the freedom it gives an artist. So after a lifetime of learning experiences and life lessons as well as two years of dedicated hard work, I finally recorded my first solo album. They say to write what you know and that's what I do. Everything comes from deep inside and is set to whatever Euterpe inspires me to turn into song.
Since releasing my first album, I've released the follow up “Familiar” as well as several singles and collaborations. I've spent a great deal of time working on my social media profiles (though I admit that I'm still a little behind on X) and my YouTube Channel. I have also begun working closely with Busuyi Guitars, creating content for their social media pages, YouTube channel, and online television network BGTVN.com.
The launch and relaunch of the apparel line I've been working on with my wife is another accomplishment that I have been working hard on.
